The sun will come out this weekend when the R.L. Turner Fine Arts Department presents "Annie." The musical not only incorporates high school students but others throughout Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD.

The performances will be Jan. 12-14 at 7:30 p.m. in the R.L. Turner Auditorium. This performance will be unique compared to other high school musicals as it incorporates both elementary and middle students as well.

"We really wanted to preform something that could incorporate a lot of students. Obviously, 'Annie' is a perfect fit," said Michael Hollomon. "With the current budget in the school district, not every school is able to have a performance of some kind. This lets parents and families come out and see there children perform."

Hollomon said there are around 30 middle school and elementary school students in the production from multiple schools in C-FB ISD.

"We have students from Blalack Middle School, Vivian Field Middle School and others. We have a variety of students," he said. "It is hard to coordinate everyone, but we have been able to make it work and we are just about ready."

Hollomon said the school has never done a performance this soon after a holiday. With students having two weeks off for both Christmas and New Year's, getting ready for the performance has been difficult.

"It has been a challenge but we have some great students working here, and they are working very hard at delivering a good show," Hollomon said.

Hollomon chose "Annie" because the musical is coming back to Broadway this summer and the school was one of the last organizations to get the rights to preform the show.

"Every director has to do 'Annie' once," he said. "This is show is about optimism and hope, and I think that is important in our society today. With a tough 2011. What better way to start 2012 with a cute little redhead delivering hope?"

Tickets for the show are $12. For information on the show email Hollomon at hollomonm@cfbisd.edu.
