The Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) is now offering flu shots to all adults. Shots are given from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the DCHHS Building (2377 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, 75207).

The cost is $20. Senior citizens with Medicare can receive their shots for free. No appointment is necessary. For more information, call 214-819-2162.

The Denton County Health Department (DCHD) will offer residents flu vaccinations this year during four community flu clinics. DCHD held two flu clinics last week and will have remaining shots available at their offices. Denton Office (306 N. Loop 288, Suite 183) and the Lewisville Office (190 N. Valley Pkwy, Suite 203) are open from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Flu shots will be available for the general public, but DCHD especially encourages those at high risk of complications from the flu to receive a flu vaccination. Those individuals that are considered high risk include:

* Children 6 months-59 months of age

* Adults over the age of 50

* Persons of any age with certain chronic medical conditions

* Persons living in nursing homes or other long term care facilities

* Pregnant women

* Persons living with high risk individuals

Flu shots are $20 and only cash is accepted. Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP will also be accepted as payment. For more information about flu shots for Denton County residents, call the DCHD Flu Clinic Hotline at 940-349-2906.
