Police talk man off bridge
By Senitra Horbrook/Staff Writer
Carrollton police talked down a man threatening to jump off the George Bush Turnpike (SH 190) after he allegedly killed his ex-wife Monday morning.
“About 9:30 this morning a motorist observed a male subject on the George Bush Turnpike westbound to Interstate 35 southbound ramp at Cloverleaf,” said Sgt. John Singleton, spokesman for the Carrollton Police Department. “The male subject was distraught. He was out of the vehicle looking as if he may be considering jumping off the bridge.”
Tactical officers and negotiators spent an hour-and-a-half convincing the man not to jump, where he was then turned over to the Dallas police.
Earlier in the morning, the approximately 36-year-old white male, who has not been named pending notification of family members, allegedly attacked his ex-wife outside an office building on the 12000 block of Hillcrest Road.
“We received a call at 8:30 … the suspect was waiting for his ex-wife to come to work (and) he attacked her, beat her with a baseball bat,” said Sgt.Gil Cerda, spokesman for the Dallas Police Department. “His ex-wife was transported to Medical Center where she soon after died.”
The suspect is in the custody of the Dallas Police Department and will be charged with murder.

" I am saddened to hear about Denise. We were childhood friends when she lived in Iowa. I had lost contact with her through the years and cannot imagine the pain her mother must be experiencing. May you find comfort and strength at this time and may justice be served. "

" I am so deeply sorry for the loss of Denise. My brother dated Denise in HS in Iowa and she was such a fun person to be around. My deepest sympathies go out to Betty, her mother. I think people will be reminded of the fond memories they had with her and not the way she was gruesomely murdered...and as far as Brent, I hope you recieved the punishment that you just deserve, you coward, spineless sick person.
